With this approach it is not essential to learn to read music. You will be given a variety of practical exercises and tasks to improve your listening skills.  This will be coupled with the relevant key and chord theory to help you acheive your goal being for you to be able to hear a song, work it out and then play it.

Would you like to be able to improvise?

I can help you develop a more creative approach to keyboard playing.  Through a structured series of practical and theoretical excercises, improvisation will be a fun and expressive experience.

Do you want to learn how to play keyboards in a band?

If are looking to start playing in a band but feel worried that you won’t know what to play when you go along.  We can work on aspects of this discipline such as: playing in differnt styles, leaving space for other instruments, using different sounds effectively and using improvisation.

Do you want to learn to read music?

If you would like to learn in a more traditional way.  There is a range of teaching material from which  we could match your musical taste and ability.  I can also take you through classical grades set by the ‘Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music’ if you wish.

Are you a singer/songwriter who wishes to work on their songs or accompaniment skills?

Do you feel your playing is limited, lacks flare and interest.  We can work on aspects of your playing such as stylistic techniques, fluidity, dynamics.  You can bring along any song ideas you have and we can work on them together.  I have professional recording facilities should you wish to realise your songs and end up with a great sounding recording.dan burke
